Community Connection & Belonging
Successful resettlement is about more than finding housing and employment—it is also about finding community.
Saffa Resource Assistance seeks to foster strong relationships within the South African refugee community while helping newcomers build meaningful connections within the American communities where they live, work, worship, learn, and raise their families.
Through partnerships with nonprofits, businesses, faith communities, volunteers, service providers, and other community organizations, we hope to create a network of support that encourages belonging while respecting and celebrating the culture, experiences, and identity that South Africans bring to their new communities.
Guidance for the Journey Ahead
Every family's journey is different. Some may need help preparing for their first U.S. job interview. Others may need assistance finding a local food pantry, understanding where to seek community services, or overcoming an unexpected financial barrier.
Our role is to listen, help identify the need, and determine how Saffa Resource Assistance—or one of our community partners—may be able to help.
We are building an organization centered on dignity, empowerment, opportunity, integrity, resilience, and community. Our goal is not to create dependence, but to provide support during transition that helps individuals and families move toward stability, self-sufficiency, and a thriving future.
