Our Approach

Our work is grounded in the belief that effective assistance should empower rather than create dependency. We meet individuals and families where they are, help identify immediate barriers and available resources, and support them as they build the knowledge, connections, and confidence needed to move forward independently.

We also recognize that successful integration is a community effort. Saffa Resource Assistance works to foster strong relationships within the South African refugee community while creating meaningful connections between newcomers and the broader communities that have welcomed them. By developing collaborative partnerships and leveraging existing community resources, we seek to strengthen—not duplicate—the services already available through resettlement agencies, nonprofits, government programs, employers, and other community organizations.

Dignity & Respect

We honor the humanity, culture, experiences, and individual circumstances of every person we serve. Assistance is provided with compassion, respect, confidentiality, and without judgment.

Empowerment

We help individuals develop the knowledge, resources, connections, and confidence necessary to navigate their new communities and make informed decisions about their futures.

Equity & Opportunity

We work to reduce barriers and expand access to employment, resources, community connections, and opportunities that support long-term stability and success.

Integrity & Accountability

We are committed to transparency, responsible stewardship, ethical decision-making, and accountability to the people we serve, our donors, our partners, and the communities that support our work.

Resilience & Sustainability

We look beyond immediate needs. Our goal is to help individuals and families establish sustainable foundations that promote independence, economic stability, resilience, and long-term well-being.

Community & Belonging

We believe people thrive when they feel connected. We foster relationships that strengthen the South African community while encouraging meaningful participation, contribution, and belonging within the communities our families now call home.
